Uganda Airlines set for adding two freighters

Reports are emerging that the Ugandan government has approved the purchase of two Boeing cargo aircraft, a Boeing B737F and a Boing B777F.

No information was received nor was any reaction from the airline recorded to enquiries about a delivery time frame.

The approval comes in addition of apparently four Airbus A320Neo aiecraft which the government reportedly approved earlier as well as two additional widebody aircraft, said to be the troubled Boeing B787 – instead as common sense would dictate additional Airbus A330Neo or the A350.

Due to delivery slots for the A320Neo’s will the airline enter into lease arrangements over the coming years to cover for network expansion and cater for growing traffic volumes, especially transit traffic via Entebbe.

Uganda Airlines presently operates a wet leased Airbus A320Ceo but arrangements are under way to change in the not too distant future from wet leases to dry leases and then operate the leased aircraft with own crews.
