RAINY SEASON SPIKES PROMPT WARNING FROM UGANDA’S METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT
(Posted 26th October 2019)
As witnessed directly while touring the South West of Uganda this week has the 2019 rainy season brought unusually heavy rains to the country, similar to what other countries in the region are also experiencing at present.
While most of Uganda’s road network will be ready to cope with the weather will selected unpaved roads across the areas mentioned in the above notice be more affected.
The rains have also turned much of Uganda into an oasis of lush green and especially the tea estates in South Western Uganda, though green throughout the year, are now as green as they will ever get.
In the East of Uganda, especially the Mount Elgon area, have communities be alerted to the possibility of landslides following the heavy rains and disaster preparedness has been stepped up to offer immediate assistance should this be required.
