UGANDA’S OIL INDUSTRY LOOKS AT SUMMIT FOR ANSWERS

President Museveni will give the keynote and welcoming address at the forthcoming 2nd Uganda International Oil & Gas Summit (www.UIOGS.com) taking place at the Kampala Serena Hotel and Conference Centre on 22nd and 23rd of November 2016.
The 2nd Uganda International Oil & Gas Summit is being hosted by the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development. The timing of the Summit is of major significance to Uganda as the country inches forward towards commercial oil production, with major projects under discussions.
The Summit will discuss and debate the future of oil and gas exploration and production in Uganda. This will be a timely meeting for senior policy makers, global investors, oil and gas companies, lawyers, consultants and other stakeholders to find out more about the state of exploration and production as it is now and what challenges and opportunities lie ahead. It may also be an opportunity to question officials on taxation issues which have dogged major stakeholders in the past at a very substantial cost to their doing business in Uganda while production, which would allow them to recover some of those unplanned expenses is still years away.
UIOGS will feature presentations from oil and gas industry leaders and experts in their fields from across the world. Major operators in Uganda CNOOC, Total and Tullow are all contributing to the programme in addition to Uganda’s National Oil Company.

The Summit is held alongside a special focus event hosted by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers which has selected Uganda to host its annual meeting given its central position in the region.
