Murchison Falls National Park’s environment to be more peaceful and quiet again as major traffic route resumes service
According to information received will the State Minister for Works, Hon. Musa Ecweru, visit the Karuma bridge site today Friday, December 20th and will outline essential guidelines to travellers before re-opening the bridge to traffic.
The bridge has been closed for several months for heavy traffic and more recently for all traffic to allow for essential repairs and long overdue major maintenance, compelling all road users from and to the Northern part of Uganda to divert through the Murchison Falls National Park.
This led to many complaints by park visitors about the sharp rise in traffic which noise disturbed wildlife and impacted on the peaceful and quiet adventure experience especially foreign visitors were seeking.
The reopening of the bridge will bring relief, both time wise as well as cost wise, to travelers to the Northern part of the country.
Meanwhile has the Japansese government indicated their willingness to once again come to Uganda’s aid and finance the construction of a brand new bridge across the river Nile at Karuma – similar to the construction of the Bridge over the river Nile in Jinja – and many other road projects in the country.
