Three of the four ‘sectors’ of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, namely Rushaga, Nkuringo and Buhoma, have new additional gorilla families which can be visited, according to information given by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
While Nkuringo got one more new group have Rushaga and Buhoma two more new groups which are available with immediate effect for tracking.
Buhoma now has 6 mountain gorilla families available for tracking, the same as the Ruhija sector. The Nkuringo sector now offers 4 families for tracking and the Rushaga sector, no new groups there for now, leads with presently 9 groups, making it overall 25.
This will bring 40 more available gorilla tracking permits to the market every day in Bwindi and overall allow up to 200 visitors per day to enjoy this unique experience.
An additional gorilla family can be tracked at Uganda’s second gorilla park, Mgahinga, which borders both Rwanda and the DR Congo.
