Uganda restores ‘Visa on Arrival’ facility – for the time being

Following major challenges during an upgrade to the country’s immigration e-Visa website, which led to non availability of the facility and subsequent inability of visitors to apply and pay for e-Visa, has the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control decided to restore the Visa on Arrival option for all visitors, until the IT challenges have been resolved in a lasting manner.

Airlines have been advised via the regular channels already and should allow passengers destined for Entebbe to board their flights, even without having obtained an e-Visa.

Regular readers of ATCNews from Uganda have made their feelings known that the Visa on Arrival facilty should be retained for good, in parallel with the e-Visa, for qualifying and selected countries, to ease the burden of obtaining e-Visa when the website is slow to respond, or does not respond, or has challenges with payments, so that visits to the Pearl of Africa can be made as easy as possible and attract more visits rather than deter them.
