UGANDA GETS READY FOR SECOND ‘PEARL OF AFRICA TOURISM EXPO’
(Posted 05th November 2015)
The Kampala Serena Hotel & Conference Centre will be the venue for the second international tourism exhibition staged by the Uganda Tourism Board, taking place from the 17th to the 20th of November.
This year’s theme was chosen as ‘Family and Travel’, a clear hint that the domestic and regional markets are key targets for UTB. Other regional tourism boards and businesses are expected to participate in Uganda’s tourism expo, both for reasons of reciprocity – Uganda has been attending all the key expos across the wider East Africa including attending Sanganai in Harare earlier this year – and it is this effort which has seen a record number of foreign participants sign up for the 2015 event.
Tourism boards such as Kenya Tourism Board, the Rwanda Development Board, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, South Africa Tourism as well as tour operators from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Mozambique, USA, UK, France, among many other countries, will this year be hosted by the Uganda Tourism Board. Opportunity exists for invited media and hosted buyers to participate in familiarization tours around the country, to show them the highlights close up and personal, including visits to key game parks and the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which was created under the chairmanship of this correspondent.
UTB also expects other exhibitors to showcase their services, including airlines flying to Uganda like Brussels Airlines, banks, travel agents, hotel and lodge operators and many more. Entrance for visitors to the exhibition is free, which is aimed to attract a large number of Ugandans to take advantage of the expo to acquaint themselves with travel options both inside the country and across the region.
