Stray elephants from Kibaale National Park have destroyed more than 300 acres of farmland in Kasese District, leaving hundreds of households facing severe food shortages and accusing wildlife authorities of inaction. Farmers in Bigando Parish, Kitswamba Sub-county, are counting heavy losses after herds of elephants believed to have strayed from Kibaale National Park trampled through their fields, destroying vast swathes of maize, cassava, beans, sweet potatoes, bananas, and groundnuts. |
