It is images like these, taken by this correspondent during his travels across Uganda, which have brought the global spotlight repeatedly in recent years on to the Pearl of Africa. Being named in recent years top destinations to visit by Lonely Planet and other renowned travel media has CNN once again lifted Uganda into their choice countries. Last year CNN named the Kidepo Valley National Park as their best park in Africa and for Uganda to be named so regularly among the crème de la crème of the world’s best destinations, there surely must be something to it.

Uganda, today appreciated as an adventure destination par excellence has something for literally every taste, and pocket of course. From Mt. Elgon in the East to the Rwenzori Mountains, aka Mountains of the Moon in the West, the Source of the River Nile, Lakes Victoria and Albert, two gorilla national parks, 14 species of primates, no one comes here and not appreciates the variety of scenery and the fact that the country is not yet overrun by tourists. Travelers coming to the country have daily connections to chose from how to fly into the international airport in Entebbe from such places like Brussels, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Cairo, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Addis Ababa and Kigali, all hub airports through which tourists can reach Uganda.

Anisha Shah, now a freelance journalist and photographer, has written the following article for CNN which is accessible through this link: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/12/22/travel/emerging-destinations-2016/

Of course is Uganda no longer an emerging destination per se but for sure has emerged over the past years from one of the world’s best kept secrets to a well known adventure destination. With the launch of the common Visa for Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya, at a cost of just 100 US Dollars, valid for up to 90 days, has the country become one of the region’s big three, affirmed by dozens of hosted buyers just last month when the Uganda Tourism Board showcased the country at the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo. Uganda will, together with partners Kenya and Rwanda, exhibit at the various tourism trade shows in 2016, so make sure you visit the exhibition stands at a show near you. Meanwhile can added destination information be found via www.visituganda.com while the national parks and game reserves are featured via www.ugandawildlife.org
