UGANDA AIRLINES RESTORES PRE-PANDEMIC NETWORK WHILE EYING FURTHER DESTINATIONS LIKE JOHANNESBURG, KINSHASA AND LUSAKA
(Posted 07th November 2020)
Effective 01st of December and in time for the upcoming holiday season of Christmas and New Year will Uganda Airlines relaunch flights to the Kenyan port city of Mombasa.
The news excited the Kenya coast tourism fraternity as the three weekly flights are perfectly timed to allow for either weekend trips to the Kenya coast or else for longer stays.
Coast resorts from Malindi to Diani and beyond have used their downtime during the various lockdowns over the past months to not only give their properties a new coat of paint but also carry out major maintenance and refurbishments.
The Kenya Tourism Board only last week launched new identities for the Kenya Coast, finally giving each of the main resort centres their own branding.
Visitors from Uganda to Kenya over the past years turned the Pearl of Africa into a leading source of visitors for Kenya, including the Kenya Coast, and the then nonstop flights launched last year proved to be immensely popular with travelers going to Mombasa either on port or other business or else to spend time in the resorts. For the time being will flights now be combined with the airline’s Nairobi flights but passengers can remain on board in Nairobi and clear customs and immigration in Mombasa.
ATCNews, a year ago on the inaugural flight from Entebbe to Mombasa, gave travelers the insight of available resorts at the Kenya Coast, including close up and personal experiences and TripAdvisor reviews at the time, and Uganda Airlines was working on packaging flights, resort and hotel accommodation and transfers from and to Mombasa’s Moi International Airport to make bookings easier for travelers while providing top class locations for them.

Now, with the renewed drive by Kenya Tourism to bring visitors back to the Kenya Coast, is the relaunch of Uganda Airlines flights a perfect opportunity to once again look at packaging such trips and fill both seats on the flights as well as beds in the resorts.
Kenya Coast residents will soon also have further options for long haul destinations such as London, Dubai or China, after Uganda Airlines will take delivery of their first Airbus A330-800Neo, with a second such aircraft due for delivery in January 2021.
Flight timings both ways will then be structured to facilitate connectivity at Entebbe International Airport for long haul flights from across the Uganda Airlines network, including Mombasa.
Happy Landings!
