UGANDA AIRLINES STEPS UP DESTINATION ROLLOUT IN PREPARATION FOR LAUNCH OF LONG HAUL FLIGHTS
(Posted 01st December 2020)
After announcing the launch of flights from Entebbe to Kinshasa and Johannesburg over the past two weeks has Uganda Airlines now also named Dubai as one of the carrier’s next destinations. The commercial and tourism hub of the UAE will be the initial route to be served with Africa’s first Airbus A330-800Neo, once it has been certified for commercial operations following the expected delivery in three weeks’ time.
A team of Uganda Airlines and Ministry of Transport officials will in the second half of December leave for Toulouse in France, where the aircraft was assembled, to take formal delivery of what will be a first for the African continent.
The three class Airbus A338Neo will start serving the route in early 2021 and the newly named additional African destinations Kinshasa and Johannesburg, together with the existing 8 destinations in the wider Eastern African region, will all be subject to an unprecedented sales blitz by airline and GSA staff, in order to generate transit traffic via Entebbe to Dubai.

At home in Uganda has the airline’s sales and marketing staff also gone into overdrive under the lead of Mr. Roger Wamara, who is the Commercial Director of the airline and whose task it is at this time to sell sell and sell some more seats to make commercial operations financially viable.
