Uganda’s President Museveni this morning officially opened the new Four Points by Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
The 8 floor, 142 standard and deluxe rooms and suites hotel is located on Plot 1, Elgon Terrace in the posh Kololo area of Uganda’s capital city.
The various facilities the hotel offers, especially the meeting rooms, are needless to say state of the art and technologically top of the range.
Two restaurants await guests, the Market Place, the hotel’s main restaurant – open 24 hours a day – is joined by the El Jefe Rooftop Restaurant which specialises in Caribbean cuisine, offering options for both in house guests and casual visitors. The Kololo Bar offers according to the hotel’s own explanation, the largest selection of whiskeys and single malts.
A heated rooftop pool and a fully equipped gym offer guests work out options after a day of meetings.
Meeting facilities are also available and offer state of the art equipment.
The hotel is needless to say part of the Marriott BonVoy loyalty programme. Marriott Hotels International owns the Sheraton brand range since a friendly takeover several years ago.
The fact that the President himself took time out of his otherwise busy schedule, to tour the new hotel and see the superior facilities only a member of the Sheraton family can offer – and to preside over the official opening, engage with the investors, the hotel’s management and key figures from politics, business and tourism, shows his continued commitment to support the sector, one of the major creators of employment and earner of significant percentages of the country’s foreign exchange income.
In his speech did the President emphasize that visitors to Uganda can feel safe and welcome and that further investments in the hospitality and tourism sectors are not just invited but warmly encouraged, with relevant government departments directed to extend maximum support and facilitation. He also stressed that the country is open for business and that investors are very welcome.
Four Points by Sheraton Kampala set to shuffle the cards of the Kampala hotel scene
I had a few weeks ago, just as the hotel had opened its doors to the public for the first time, taken the opportunity to check out the new hotel and details of my visit can be found via the links above and below:
Four Points by Sheraton Kampala – a Caribbean lunch delights my taste buds
The new Four Points by Sheraton is already setting new benchmarks for hospitality in this, and in fact even for higher market segments and the arrival of the Four Points by Sheraton in the Ugandan market will put Uganda on the global hospitality map. After all, brand marketing of such a major hospitality giant is regularly outpacing local and national marketing efforts and will in any case supplement the destination marketing for Uganda across the world.
