| An experienced Ayurveda doctor, Avinash Tiwari, has joined as Wellness and Spa Manager and senior trainer. A Therapist, Rajesh, has also joined Dr Tiwari and brings with him a wealth of experience from the Four Seasons, Soneva Fushi and Soneva Gili luxury resorts in the Maldives. Apart from the Maharishi Mahesh yogi Foundation in Holland, Dr Tiwali has also managed a chain of spas in Ukraine.

Building a strong relationship and working hand in hand with the wardens at the Talek gate is essential in order to protect our local community, enhance security and safety for visitors, and towards the conservation of wildlife. General Manager, Michiel Reinecke, regularly meets with the wardens to assess and discuss any issues relating to the local community and surroundings, as well as wildlife. In the same way, the wardens rely on our cooperation in order to carry out their jobs in the most efficient manner. |
Mara Leisure Camp provides drinking water for the Maasai Manyata community
The picture here shows an aerial view of the village in the immediate vicinity of where Mara Leisure Camp is located. This is the Maasai Manyata community, which we support by providing free, clean drinking water which is essential for the local Maasai people to cook, and stay healthy.

Chobe Safari Lodge works with UWA to build a Game Hide
|

Game hides are extremely practical solutions to not only enhance game viewing experiences but also to help with conservation. Wild animals are naturally fearful of human activity and so building a game hide is the perfect solution so as not to deter any wildlife from coming close to our waterhole, and also to ensure a great game viewing experience where you can take photos and capture all the amazing flora and fauna

| Mweya Safari Lodge purchased a brand new boat at the end of last year and we named it Hippo. Feedback from our guests has been extremely positive with the upper and lower decks providing ample space for those photography and wildlife enthusiasts. |

A Juvenile Martial Eagle rescued after being hit by a vehicle, leaving it’s left wing badly broken. Unfortunately no UWA vet was in the area at the time. Under the leadership and guidance of Hennie, Mweya’s General Manager, the staff at Mweya strapped the broken wing and the eagle was set free after it’s wings function returned to normal. |
Thirupathi Balaji joins Mweya Safari Lodge as Executive Chef
Chef Thirupathi studied hotel management and catering technology from Kodaikanal Christian College, in India. He has 19 Years of experience in the culinary industry.
Later, he joined the Capitol Hotel in Dubai as a chef de partie. Thirupathi says, “ that is where I made the strong foundation of my career for a period of eight years, becoming Executive Chef.” During this position Chef Thirupathi attained the skills to cook authentic Italian, French, Latin American, Mexican and Mediterranean cuisines.

Godfrey Musamali joins as Silverback Lodge General Manager

Godfrey is the new Manager in charge of Silverback Lodge. He joined on the 1st March 2014. Godfrey holds a diploma in food and beverage management from the Sulzberger Tourismusschulen Klessheim Salzburg, Austria and has attended other courses in general management, economics of business, marketing research, financial and management accounting.
He has experience in hotel management which he acquired from various hotels and lodges in which he worked. He worked with the Madhvani Group at the Kakira Guest House, nestled in the vast sugarcane plantations. He also worked at Mweya Safari Lodge and Paraa Safari Lodge at a managerial level in food and beverage from 2004 until 2009, before he went to Southern Sudan to work as a Manager for Amarat Classic Hotel. |

David and Christopher Baker visit Paraa Safari Lodge

On 10th January 2014 , David Baker and his brother Christopher Baker visited Paraa Safari Lodge for a two night stay as they embarked on placing historical markers on the trails used by their Great great grand Father Sir Samuel White Baker and His wife Florence Baker in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda. Their visit was part of the launching of "The Sir Samuel and Lady Florence Baker Historical Trail" meant to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Baker’s expedition in Uganda. |

| This second visit followed that of last year carried out during the months of January-February 2013 during phase two of the Great African Expedition which was spear headed by African Explorer and Anthropologist Julian Monroe Fisher and his team that included David Baker, the great-great-grandson of Sir Samuel Baker and his daughter Melanie. This team was accredited with correcting maps of Uganda by establishing the true location of Baker’s View, the location where Sir Samuel Baker became the first European to see Lake Albert and to subsequently name the lake for Prince Albert.

while they tracked and inspected the nests and did a heath analysis of the Mubare mountain gorilla Family in Bwindi
