The upcoming papal visit to Uganda is going to disrupt traffic on Entebbe road on Friday and Sunday as well as certain other areas in Kampala throughout the weekend.
The Ugandan CAA and ENHAS, Entebbe’s main airline handling agency advise that the road to Entebbe airport will be at least half blocked and at times completely locked down and that therefore traffic will be moving very slowly.
This applies to the Pope’s arrival on Friday and his departure on Sunday. You are strongly urged to get to the airport very early that day. Expect a very long journey time from (and also to) Kampala.

Based on the above itinerary, the following roads will be closed / partially closed during the respective dates / times:
• Upper Kololo Terrace will be closed at Mabua, Elgon Junction and Wampewo, Upper Kololo Junction; Prince Charles Drive will be closed at Elizabeth Junction; Wampewo Ace will be one way for VIPs. All motor vehicles unrelated to the function will not access Upper Kololo. They will be diverted along York Terrace, Impala Ave, Archer Road-Jinja Road.
• Diversions on Entebbe Kampala Highway, Clock Tower Gaaba Road-Munyonyo, Mbuya-Jinja Road Traffic- Lights-Wampewo Ave-Kololo, Kibuye Roundabout- Ndeeba-Nalukolongo-Rubaga, Nakawa Traffic Lights-Kireka-Bweyogwrere-Namugongo beginning Friday.
