ALL PASSENGERS ESCAPE WRECKAGE AS ONE PERSON ON THE GROUND IS KILLED

Added information now received suggests that the fully loaded Cessna Grand Caravan, which crashed at the remote airfield of Aboko near the South Sudan border with Ethiopia, was trying to take off before the accident.
The aircraft failed to climb, perhaps caused by excessive weight, struck a perimeter fence and then crashed into a nearby house killing an occupant there as well as some domestic lifestock.
All crew and passengers apparently escaped the aircraft wreck which then burned out completely.
Local sources from South Sudan claimed that as many as 18 passengers were on board, difficult to believe as a standard layout of a Cessna Grand Caravan normally only accommodates two cockpit crew seats and up to 12 passengers, something the accident investigation which is now underway will no doubt investigate.
