In an international geopolitical context that is reconfiguring certain maritime routes, the Vanilla Islands Association reports positive results from its presence at Seatrade Europe in Hamburg (September 10-12, 2025).
B2B Meetings and Strategic Exchanges at the Trade Show
The joint presence of the Indian Ocean islands (La Réunion, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mayotte, Comoros, Seychelles) enabled the delegation to multiply business meetings and strategic exchanges with industry players. During these three days, numerous B2B appointments took place with cruise companies, port of call representatives, and specialized tour operators.
These targeted meetings highlighted the strengths of our destinations (port infrastructure, cultural richness, exceptional biodiversity) and opened up prospects for ship deployment in the region. The Association emphasizes that participation in these professional trade shows is essential to sustain the presence of companies already active in the Indian Ocean and attract new ones.
The German Market: A Driver for the Vanilla Islands
Germany has established itself as the leading cruise market in Europe and second worldwide after the United States. This leadership is confirmed for the Indian Ocean, where the German-speaking market plays a central role in the region’s dynamism.
Historically, Germany ranks among the main providers of international tourists to the Vanilla Islands. This affinity translates into continuous growth in German cruise passenger arrivals, strengthening economic and cultural ties between our destinations and this key market.
A Destination Now Essential in the Cruise Landscape
A strong message emerges from this 2025 edition: the Vanilla Islands are now perceived as an essential destination by industry professionals. Thanks to joint promotional efforts and increased passenger demand for new experiences, the Indian Ocean has risen among the most sought-after emerging regions.
At a time when cruise passengers seek both authenticity and security, the Vanilla Islands offer a unique balance, reinforcing their image as a privileged haven for exceptional port calls.
