VICTORIA FALLS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT READY FOR INAUGURATION

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) would like to inform its valued customers and the general public that the Victoria Falls International Airport Development Project is set to be commissioned by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe on Friday the 18th of November 2016.
The airport is the gateway to the mighty Victoria Falls, a World Heritage Site and one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
The New Victoria Falls International Airport’s features include:
- a new 4km long by 60m wide runway
- extended parking areas for aircraft
- a new control tower
- a new fire station
- new access road networks
- a new state of the art international passenger terminal building and a refurbished domestic terminal with a capacity to handle 1.5 million passengers per annum.
The expanded apron area has a capacity to handle aircraft in the class of the B747 and equivalent. The airport has modern passenger facilities which include; a compatible baggage handling system, Flight Information Display System (FIDS) and Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS) system. This new state of the art airport is expected to accommodate long haul flights from around the globe giving rise to hope for an increased inflow of tourists to Zimbabwe.
