ATCNews is happy to announce the appointment of Virginia Messina as Group Chief Executive Officer – an exciting step forward as ATTA continues to strengthen their global voice for African tourism.
Virginia joins ATTA from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), where she played a key role in shaping global tourism policy, sustainability and advocacy. She brings a wealth of international experience and an influential global network at a time when African tourism is gaining real momentum.
With Travel & Tourism already contributing over $220 billion to African economies – and set to exceed 10% of GDP by 2030, this appointment reinforces ATTA’s commitment to elevating Africa on the global stage.
Working closely with the ATTA Board and leadership team, Virginia will help expand international engagement, strengthen advocacy, and continue delivering value for the ATTA members through partnerships, events and global connections.
A strong step forward for ATTA – and for the future of African tourism
ATCNews extends best wishes to Virginia and wishes her best of success!
