| Virunga Lodge-The Best View in the World |
| Virunga Lodge in Rwanda is perched high on a ridge offering magnificent views of the twin lakes, Bulera and Ruhonda and the majestic Virunga volcanoes. It is the perfect base for the amazing opportunity to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat as well as doing a wide selection of adventurous activities.
The lodge opened in 2004 with eight bandas. In 2014 we added two spacious deluxe bandas each with their own private sitting rooms with central fireplace. This year we have been busy with upgrading the original eight bandas. |
| Fireplaces are being added to all of the bandas to keep guests warm after tracking the gorillas. The new luxury interiors of the bandas are inspired by Rwandese artisanal styles, using colourful local fabrics and objects, combined with contemporary elegance. The wicker lights, hand stitched bed covers and hand-made clay umbrella stands offer a lovely earthly feel.

| Titwezimbere Women’s Cooperative at Virunga Lodge |
| As part of Virunga Lodge’s active participation with local communities, we have built a crafts center and workshop for 22 local women from Sunzu Village, near Virunga Lodge. We have supported the women in setting up the "Titwezimbere co-operative", meaning to improve yourself and move forward. Using colourful straw the women hand weave wonderfully vibrant baskets. |
| Guests can visit the cooperative and see the women making their baskets while staying at the lodge and purchase them at the gift shop. |
