CITES reacts at last but almost as if with
both feet on the brakes … WHAT IS GOING
ON AT THE CITES SECRETARIAT?
The word ‘complicit’ comes to mind … they sure
are not coming out smelling of roses here …
Please note: The CITES Secretariat finally got around today to posting one (only) news report about the Chinese importing ivory from Tanzania. One report is better than none, but it’s unfortunate the Secretariat only posted the report after this omission was highlighted in Thursday’s newsletter.

CITES GETS TO CHOOSE WHETHER MORE ELEPHANTS (and rhinos)
ARE TO BE SLAUGHTERED – OR NOT.
IF THIS IS NOT AN “EMERGENCY” – WHAT IS?

From this …………………………………………….. to this ……………………………….
to make into this ………………………………………all because of Chinese corruption and greed.

THE WORLD CAN NO LONGER STAND BY AND
WATCH CHINA (AND VIETNAM) DECIMATE
ELEPHANTS – WITH CITES TAKING NO ACTION.
DO YOU BELIEVE THE CITES SECRETARIAT HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO
RELEASE A PUBLIC STATEMENT CONDEMNING – or AT LEAST
EXPRESSING CONCERN OVER
THIS LATEST CHINESE DEVELOPMENT? IT’S NOT A LOT TO ASK – IS IT?
DOING NOTHING MEANS MORE OF THE SAME YOU SEE BELOW, DOESN’T IT?
ISN’T THIS WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING UP TO NOW?
