The World Travel Awards 2016 have been announced last Saturday night at the Diamonds La Gemma dell’ Est on the Spice Island of Zanzibar, defeating the opinion of those who had predicted a dire future for the island’s tourism industry after the recent election re-run.
The tourism who is who from across the continent and as far as the African Indian Ocean islands had traveled to the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago, Unguja, and spent quality time there meeting industry friends and acquaintances.
Notably, and not mentioned here before, did Kenya scoop additional awards such as having the famous Diani Beach once again named as Africa’s best beach resort area, while closer to home did Auric Air claim their trophy after being named ‘Leading Domestic Airline’, taking the honours ahead of other contenders like Coastal Aviation. Congratulations to all the winners once again, and now read on what next WTA has in store for you.
For the 2017 award season, make sure your favourite hotels, resorts, safari lodges and camps, travel companies, airlines, safari operators and other service providers are first nominated and then voted for.
