British Airways announces more flights to Entebbe and larger aircraft for Nairobi

BRITISH AIRWAYS UPS CAPACITY ON REMAINING EAST AFRICA ROUTES

(Posted 17th March 2014)

After withdrawing from the route between London and Dar es Salaam last year to the bewilderment of Tanzanian travelers as well as international travelers to East Africa’s largest country, has British Airways now announced that capacity to the remaining two destinations in East Africa, Entebbe and Nairobi, will be upped from the end of March, i.e. the beginning of the summer schedule.

Flights to Entebbe will be increased from presently three a week to four a week with a corresponding improvement of flights out of Terminal Five to other intercontinental destinations, aimed to make onward connections smoother.

Nairobi will see a change of aircraft, returning from the presently used B777 to the previously used B747- 400, adding nearly 800 extra seats on the route each week, a sign of a demand revival for flights to Kenya and beyond into the wider Eastern African region.

Edward Frost, the airline’s newly appointed commercial manager for East and Southern Africa, says the schedule and capacity increases provide customers with more choice and better connections to London and beyond: ‘We adjust schedules and capacity to reflect demand and this is another example of just that. The new schedule and capacity increases provide customers with more choice and better connections’.
