2019 is the year for another #EastAfricaSafariClassicRally

CLASSIC SAFARI RALLY 2019 TO TAKE PLACE BETWEEN 27TH NOVEMBER TO 06TH DECEMBER

(Posted 07th January 2019)

The main rally will take place from November 27th to December 6th, 2019. Entries open on September 26th, 2018 and the entry form is now available to download from the Safari Classic Rally website.

2019 will be the ninth edition of the Safari Classic Rally, widely acknowledged as the world’s toughest historic motorsport event. The ten-day rally offers competitors an incredible opportunity to enjoy the epic landscapes of East Africa as they journey between exceptionally challenging stages, some of which can be over 150 kilometres long.

The rally is run on open roads, with the spectacular African wildlife adding to the Safari Classic Rally’s unrivalled attractions. Several stages are held in the region’s most famous wildlife preserves and the event also partners with local agencies to support conservation and carbon-neutral initiatives.

"Having competed in the original Safari Rally more than twenty times, I know that the Classic Safari Rally offers participants the same chance to experience real Africa and its great rally roads," said former works driver, Rauno Aaltonen, who enjoyed multiple podium finishes on the original Safari Rally. "The fascinating countryside, high mountain ranges, slippery hairpins, jungle roads, mud, dust, heat, river crossings and game of all sizes remain a great part of the East African Safari Classic Rally experience."

"The Safari Classic Rally is unique in the world," says event chairman, Raju Kishinani. "No other event allows competitors to truly test the limits of historic rallying by racing flat-out for thousands of kilometres through the breathtaking grandeur of East Africa. We are honoured to preserve the spirit and excitement of the original Safari Rally and look forward to welcoming competitors from all over the world to our 2019 event."
