(Posted 24th November 2016)

The twenty-first edition of Mégavalanche, the ultimate downhill mountain bike race, will take place on the west coast of Reunion Island from 26th to 27 th November this year. Megavalanche is a mass-start downhill marathon-style event mixing gravity-assisted excitement with enduro levels of fitness. The Mégavalanche race, on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean, will start at the top of the Le Maido volcano and descend over a course of 20.8km to the coastal city of St Paul.

Packed with fun, adrenaline and of course, the backdrop of the beauty of Reunion Island, Mégavalanche will leave all visitors and competitors of this race coming back for more!

And if you are planning on arriving ahead of time, or staying on for a few days after the race, Reunion Island offers you a fun-filled getaway to the island. Paragliding over the island with nothing else but the birds to keep you company is a sure way to get your adrenaline pumping, or cruise over the mountains in a mircolight! A helicopter flight around the island is an absolute must.

Canyoning, hiking over the spectacular mountains, hills and valleys that forms part of the island or paddling is yet another way in which Reunion Island promises to thrill the adventure seekers.

There is so much to see and do on the island, gaze at the scenery, or laze at one of the lagoons, enjoy authentic Reunionese food and dance, visit the St Paul Market or simply relax! However you choose to spend your time on the island, be prepared to be in awe!
