6.0 Earthquake shakes Tanzania and Eastern African region

MAJOR EARTHQUAKE REPORTED FROM OFFSHORE TANZANIA

One of the strongest earthquakes of recent times in Eastern Africa has shaken Tanzania and the wider Eastern African region, with the tremors felt in Mombasa and further into Kenya.
Reaching a 6 on the open ended Richter Scale is the quake indeed one of the strongest and the location, some 93 kilometres south east of Dar es Salaam and 66 kilometres north east of Kilindoni in the Indian Ocean caused fear among affected people, many of whom were reportedly running out of their buildings on the mainland.
Reports are awaited on material damage and injuries to people but not expected until the early hours of the morning but data from global earthquake watch centres have already been received:
