Turkish Airlines has permanently halted flights to 11 destinations, including five in Africa.
Destinations which were previously suspended until the 24th of October were now marked to be cancelled for good and include Juba, Kinshasa, Libreville, Luanda and Lusaka,.
No comment was available why this decision was taken or why alternative options like the combination with other African destinations was not taken up. Aviation pundits however suggested that Turkish Airlines was cancelling and suspending flights primarily due to regional airspace closures as a result of Middle East conflicts, rising jet fuel costs and supply chain issues.
The airline was however planning to open new routes to Bissau (Guinea-Bissau) and to Monrovia (Liberia) in the near future.
