Added marketing opportunities for East Africa’s tourism businesses

MORE SPOTLIGHT WORKSHOPS HELP SHOWCASE EAST AFRICA’S ATTRACTIONS

Participants in this year’s Spotlight Roadshows, organized by Houston Marketing, will be able to drive the message home in key consumer markets across Europe that travel to East Africa remains fundamentally safe and that with attractions second to none, East Africa as a region continues to be one of the world’s great destinations.

The Spotlight on Africa & Indian Ocean Islands European roadshows this year will take place in September and November. HOUSTON Marketing has moved their traditional November ‘Nordics Seashow’ to September and in late November will be doing Spotlight in Eastern Europe, visiting Prague, Budapest & Warsaw with more relevant shown information below.

The Scandinavian countries and cities this year will be Denmark (Billund & Copenhagen) and Oslo / Norway with the inclusion of Amsterdam, taking place from Monday 08th September to Thursday 11th September.
For most African countries Holland is a major source market and over the past years have Spotlight workshops been very well attended by Dutch tour operators and agents. Holland is the 6th biggest source market for South Africa with 120,000 visitors in 2013. Once again Houston is partnering with Anneli Bronkhorst to organise this workshop in central Amsterdam. The cost for the Amsterdam only workshop is Euro 995 plus optional accommodation.

The Nordic countries are a major emerging market for African Countries.

Houston’s six previous seashows to the Nordics cities have been a resounding success for exhibitors with attendees comprising outbound tour operators, incentive travel companies and travel agents. Exhibitors were particularly impressed with the quality of the attendees enabling them to meet with the decision makers of most of the major outbound operators in each country. 120,000 visitors from the four Nordic countries visited South Africa in 2013 and 38,000 visited Kenya. The cost for the three Nordic workshop sessions was given as Euro 2590 plus Euro 415 for three nights optional accommodation.

The Eastern Europe roadshow will target three key emerging markets for Africa at Spotlight Eastern Europe taking place from November 27th to 29th. This third Spotlight on Africa & Indian Ocean Islands workshop series in Eastern Europe will this year cover the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.
Notably will the workshops this year they not be take place immediately after WTM but from Tuesday, November 27th to Thursday November 29th. It is worth to note that there are more Polish tourists visiting South Africa and Kenya than Russians tourists, making Poland an important emerging market for Eastern African countries.
The specific dates in each city are November 25th Prague, November 26th Budapest, November 27th Warsaw.
