Week 20 of the AeroTrail Africa Aviation Trails captures major developments shaping AFRICA’s rapidly evolving aviation industry, led by KENYA’s hosting of the 7th EAC Civil Aviation Safety & Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA) Aviation Symposium focused on green aviation, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), regional connectivity, safety, and industry collaboration.
Here are some key highlights from this week’s edition:
1 EGYPT approved a three-month aviation incentive package to support airlines operating within its tourism market amid ongoing regional disruptions.
2 SOUTH_AFRICA’s ATNS and the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana_CAAB signed a cooperation agreement on aviation training, ATM technology, and regional integration to strengthen safety and operational efficiency across AFRICA.
3 EGYPTAIR launched its first-ever direct Cairo–Los Angeles service, expanding its long-haul footprint into the UNITED_STATES West Coast market.
4 Airlink announced a new non-stop Cape Town–Zanzibar route starting October 2026, strengthening EAST AFRICAN leisure connectivity.
5 NIGERIA’s Air Peace Limited expanded its fleet with three additional aircraft, including a Boeing 737 leased from AviaAM Leasing and two Airbus A320s leased from Avion Express to support network growth.
6 Swissport strengthened its AFRICAN cargo footprint through the acquisition of Swiftair Maroc in MOROCCO, the country’s primary airfreight gateway handling approximately 95% of national cargo volumes.
7 SOUTH_SUDAN has officially inaugurated its first national air traffic management (ATM) system, marking a major milestone in the country’s aviation sovereignty since independence in 2011.
