In Week 26 of 2026, Africa’s airline fleet continued to evolve, with four carriers expanding their fleets. Two airlines welcomed factory-new aircraft, while another grappled with Aircraft on Ground (AOG) challenges, highlighting the contrasting realities shaping the continent’s aviation sector.
Here are some of the week’s key fleet developments:
Air_Congo has expanded its fleet with the addition of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (ET-ASI), marking a major milestone in the airline’s long-haul strategy. The aircraft supported the launch of the carrier’s new Kinshasa–Brussels service, strengthening connectivity between Central Africa and Europe.
Airlink took delivery of a brand-new Embraer E195-E2 (ZS-LKG), reinforcing the South African carrier’s ongoing fleet modernisation programme. The new-generation aircraft will improve fuel efficiency, increase capacity, and support the airline’s expanding regional network.
