Africa’s airline fleets are changing — and last week’s deliveries tell only part of the story. The continent recorded another notable week of fleet movements, capacity additions and renewal activity, as airlines continue to position themselves for evolving market demand.
Three brand-new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft were delivered to two African carriers, alongside a new Airbus Aircraft A220-300 delivered to a Nigerian carrier — another signal of continued investment in fleet modernisation and capacity.
Beyond the new deliveries, the week also saw developments involving widebody expansion, ACMI capacity, regional aircraft and major future fleet renewal programmes.
Yet, alongside expansion, fleet availability and financial pressures continue to challenge some operators.
