African aviation recorded another strong week of network expansion, with four new intercontinental routes launched, further strengthening the continent’s global connectivity.
The headline developments were:
Fly Air Zimbabwe‘s restoration of direct Harare–London Gatwick services on 24 July 2026, reconnecting Zimbabwe with the United_Kingdom after a 14-year hiatus.
The week also saw Muscat International Airport, Oman expand its African footprint with new services to two East African destinations, while iGA Istanbul Airport welcomed a new direct connection from Egypt, further enhancing links between North Africa and Türkiye.
Beyond new routes, several airlines accelerated their network strategies through increased frequencies and strategic expansion announcements.
