We are now into Week 18 of 2026, and AeroTrail continues to track and document key aviation developments shaping the African skies since the start of the year.

This week’s spotlight: Fleet Modernisation & Capacity Expansion

EGYPTAIR strengthens its fleet: The carrier took delivery of three new aircraft: three Boeing 737-8 MAX (SU-GGM, SU-GGN & SU-GGL), leased from Sumisho Air Lease, and one Airbus Aircraft A350-941 (SU-GGI). These additions significantly reduce the airline’s average fleet age and enhance operational efficiency across its network.

2 Air Ghana expands cargo operations: A converted Boeing 737-476(SF) (9G-KCT), leased from Swiftair S.A., joins the fleet, strengthening the airline’s cargo capacity and regional logistics capabilities.

3 Sky Vision Airlines adds mid-life capacity: The airline inducts an Airbus A321-211 (SU-SKH), supporting its capacity growth strategy.

4 Air Congo boosts regional connectivity: Two near-new ATR 72-600s (ET-BCO & ET-BCM), leased from Ethiopian Airlines, have been added to support short-haul expansion and improve connectivity across Central Africa.

Beyond fleet developments, Week 17 also captures key updates across:

Routes & connectivity
