Cape Town to Casablanca is longer than Berlin to Vladivostok.
Dakar to Djibouti is almost 1,000 km longer than London to New York. Nairobi to Lagos is farther than London to Cairo.
Africa is too often visually diminished on maps, and that distorts our understanding of its scale. We talk about the continent as though its cities, markets and destinations sit neatly beside one another. They do not.
These enormous distances shape everything from aviation and infrastructure to tourism and trade.
Africa is vast. It is time our maps, and our thinking, caught up.
