BRUSSELS AIRLINES GETS ‘CLINTON GLOBAL CITIZEN AWARD 2015’
(Posted 17th October 2015)
Together with a select group of 23 organizations has Brussels Airlines been honoured for its leadership and response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and its continued effort to improve the health and well-being of the affected communities.
‘In difficult operational circumstances we continued flying to these countries. With our‘Africa is not Ebola‘ initiative we wanted to raise awareness towards a broad audience. It is crucial that we prevent that the entire African continent is being put aside because three out of more than 50 countries are going through a severe health crisis. We assume our responsibility now that both international and local projects are being established in order to help the affected regions recover economically and socially. One of the basic conditions of growth is easy access to a country, and with the recent increase of our flight offer we want to contribute actively to that’ commented Bernard Gustin, CEO Brussels Airlines.
This correspondent was at an early stage already invited to become one of the Brussels Airlines Ambassadors for the initiative and with the outbreak now all but over were the efforts of the airline finally recognized not just by the Clinton award but other global bodies too.
