The airline welcomed its second Boeing 787 Dreamliner at Kinshasa N’Djili International Airport, a 787-9 configured for 292 passengers in a three-class layout.
The aircraft (ex-MIAT) will support the airline’s expanding long-haul services to Europe alongside its existing Ethiopian Airlines wet-leased 787-8.
This is finally a positive signal for improved connectivity from Congo DR.
It is intended to support Air Congo’s growing European network, including routes to Brussels and Paris.
As a joint venture between the Congolese state (51%) and Ethiopian Airlines (49%), Air Congo continues to expand its operational capacity with modern, fuel-efficient widebody aircraft — an important step toward improving long-haul connectivity for the DRC.
The arrival ceremony was attended by the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Jean-Pierre Bemba, along with Air Congo’s board chair and CEO.
