We have thoughtfully enhanced our 2027 flight schedule with our guests at the centre of every decision. The improved timings create smoother journeys between East Africa’s leading safari destinations, with earlier arrivals, more convenient connections and greater flexibility when planning multi-destination itineraries. For your clients, this means less time in transit, more time on safari and a more seamless experience from departure to destination.
Read on for a detailed overview of the new and improved connections designed to make your clients’ 2027 journeys easier to plan and even more rewarding.
Breakfast in the Mara, lunch in the Serengeti – with more options to connect
Our new morning service to Arusha creates additional ways to travel from the Mara to the Serengeti, allowing guests to arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive.
For an additional US$100 or more, depending on the airstrip, guests can enjoy a seamless wing-to-wing connection via Wilson and Arusha airports. Depart the Mara at 08.05 am and arrive at Wilson Airport at 09.35 am, ready to connect to the newly introduced 10.30 am flight to Arusha. After arriving in Arusha at 11.30 am, guests connect with Regional Air at 12.00 pm and arrive in the Serengeti at 01.10 pm.
Alternatively, guests can choose our coordinated ground-transfer connection from the Mara via Migori and Tarime. Departing the Mara at 8.05 am, taking you through Migori, this option connects with Regional Air at Tarime airstrip and arrives in the Serengeti at 12.35 pm.
A new, seamless connection from Amboseli to the Serengeti
The morning flight to Arusha introduces a convenient connection between two iconic safari destinations. Guests depart Amboseli at 07.45 am and arrive at Wilson Airport at 08.20 am, before connecting to the 10.30 am Arusha service. From Arusha, Regional Air completes the journey, with arrival in the Serengeti at 01.10 pm – giving guests ample time to settle in, have lunch and enjoy the rest of the day in the Serengeti.
More convenient ways to travel from the Serengeti to the Mara
For an earlier arrival in the Mara, guests can take the ground-transfer connection via Tarime and Migori. Depart the Serengeti at 08.00 am and arrive in the Mara at 11.45 am, allowing guests to transition comfortably into their Mara experience and make the most of the afternoon.
Alternatively, our wing-to-wing connection via Arusha and Wilson Airport offers a comfortable air transfer throughout the journey. Depart the Serengeti at 10.20 am and arrive at Wilson Airport at 01.00 pm, then connect to the 02.15 pm departure and arrive in the Mara at 03.00 pm. During the transit at AirKenya’s exclusive passenger lounge, guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and refreshments from our resident café, Spring Valley Coffee.
At every connection point – Wilson Airport, Arusha Airport, Migori and Tarime – our professional ground teams are available to meet and assist guests. They will guide travellers through transfers, immigration and customs formalities, helping to deliver a smooth, coordinated and personalised journey.
Earlier departures from Northern Kenya, with arrival in the Mara in time for lunch
Flights from Northern Kenya will now depart earlier at 09.45 am and arrive in the Mara at 12.15 pm. Guests can enjoy lunch on arrival and make the most of an afternoon game drive -giving them more time in the Mara and more time on safari.
Smart updates for smoother planning
As we optimise our network around these enhanced timings and connections, the following services will change. We recommend reviewing affected itineraries early so that our team can support the most suitable alternatives for your clients:
- Mara to Northern Kenya connection: The current connection via Wilson Airport will be discontinued. For a smoother and more rewarding itinerary, we recommend beginning the journey in Northern Kenya and continuing to the Mara, where the new schedule provides a convenient 12.15 pm arrival in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive.
- Meru National Park: Scheduled services to Meru will conclude with effect from 1st January 2027. We will continue to offer flexible charter services, providing tailored travel options and a more personalised journey to this unique destination. - Northern Kenya to Arusha connection: The current connection will end, as the Arusha service moves to a morning departure. This change supports the improved Mara–Serengeti and Amboseli–Serengeti connections, creating more convenient access between Kenya and Tanzania’s key safari regions.
