Air Kenya return to Keekorok after airstrip inspection

AIR KENYA RESUMES KEEKOROK LANDINGS AFTER EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO AIRSTRIP

(Posted 27th July 2015)

Air Kenya has just confirmed that they will resume operations into and out of the Masai Mara’s main airfield, Keekorok, effective tomorrow 28th of July.

The airline had suspended operations into the airstrip last week due to the state of the runway but it appears that emergency repairs were carried out since then and an inspection earlier today by airline staff led to the decision to resume operations.

Many nearby camps rely on this particular airfield to pick up and drop off clients and had to use other smaller and more distant airstrips, causing inconvenience and added cost.

As this decision has come at very short notice has Air Kenya confirmed that clients who would wish to use the Keekorok airfield instead of the one they were confirmed, can be rebooked after notifying the airline ahead of their flight.
