AIR MAURITIUS MORE THAN DOUBLES PROFITS FOR Q2
(Posted 22nd November 2016)
The financial turnaround at Air Mauritius has taken roots as, after some lean years with red bottom lines profitability has returned in a sustained way.
Q2 of the airline’s financial year 2016 has seen profits more than double from last year’s 5.8 million Euros to now 13.8 million Euros while revenues grew by over 2 percent to 131.1 million Euros for the same period.
While the yield, in line with broader industry experience this year, dropped by 4.5 percent have operating expenses also reduced by 4.2 percent, contributing to the healthy looking bottom line.
Passenger numbers increased by nearly 9 percent while the average load factor rose from 80.4 percent last year to 83.7 percent this year.
The growth was largely driven by additional traffic from China which helped a turnaround from a loss in H1 last year of 4.1 million Euros to a profit of 15.5 million Euros in H1 of 2017.
