NEW CODE SHARE DEAL WITH ETIHAD CONNECTS AIR SEYCHELLES TO CASABLANCA
(Posted 12th February 2015)
Air Seychelles has in recent weeks announced more code share arrangements with partner airline Etihad than in the entire year before, expanding their reach into the Arabian peninsula and now to North Africa.
Casablanca, still carrying the magic ring of the 1942 war time epic starring Academy Award winners Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, has been added to the range of Air Seychelles destinations and bookings can be done with immediate effect it was learned yesterday.
With thirteen connections from Mahe to Abu Dhabi can travelers now connect from there on the daily flights to Morocco’s largest city.
The airline’s CEO Manoj Papa made the announcement yesterday from the airlines’ offices at the international airport on Mahe: ‘We are delighted to expand our codeshare on Etihad Airways to Casablanca, a city of four million that has for decades held a magnetic pull on travellers. The outbound tourism market in Morocco is expected to grow to 452,000 in 2015*, and with this codeshare, travellers from this country now have convenient, one-stop access to Seychelles. In addition, Casablanca is Air Seychelles’ first codeshare point in North Africa and demonstrates our commitment to increasing the passenger and cargo flows between our archipelago and the world. Every time we add a new codeshare destination with Etihad Airways, we are building more depth into our network and driving continued and sustainable growth in the Seychelles economy’.
In a related development will Air Seychelles next Monday hold a major launch party at the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel, celebrating with Tanzania’s business community and travel agencies the flights between Mahe and Tanzania’s commercial capital and main port city. The airline commenced flights in early December and offers not only nonstop access to the Seychelles but immediate onward flights to Mumbai, making it the fastest connection presently available for Tanzanian’s to reach India.
