Air Seychelles signs code share deal with Air Madagascar

AIR SEYCHELLES RAKING IN CODE SHARE AGREEMENTS

(Posted 06th February 2015)

Hot on the heels of code share agreements with partner airline Etihad for flights to Mumbai and Amman come the news that Air Seychelles has put pen to paper with Air Madagascar, after launching flights from Mahe to Antananarivo in early December last year. The addition of an Air Madagascar flight number on the twice weekly services between the two capital cities will reportedly also extend onwards for the Air Seychelles flights from Mahe to Abu Dhabi and from Mahe to Mumbai, expanding the reach of Air Madagascar and feeding additional passengers on to the Air Seychelles flights.

Both islands are founder members of the Vanilla Island Organization, a marketing cooperative aimed to promote the member islands – Madagascar, Reunion, Mauritius, Mayotte, Comoros, Seychelles and the Maldives – and which has been working to improve air connectivity between the island to allow for ‘island hopping’ visits to several islands while in the region.

Manoj Papa, the Air Seychelles CEO, was speaking after the agreements were signed at the Seychelles International Airport yesterday and said: ‘Travellers from Madagascar are now a short journey away from Seychelles, which offers onward connections to attractive destinations across Air Seychelles’ expanding international network’ before affirming that the new flights have already made closer trade and tourism ties possible.
