Kenya’s aviation ?workers including air traffic controllers have called off a strike that disrupted flights at its main international and other airports for nearly three days,
Kenya’s Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and the aviation workers union chief, Moss Ndiema, both confirmed this earlier today.
The strike,, mostly ?by air traffic controllers, on Sunday and Monday, disrupted hundreds of flights into and ?out of the main Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and delays spilt ?over to regional airports in East Africa and beyond.
The striking workers were demanding better working conditions and the implementation of a previously agreed deal which was also only reached following repeated strike action but the government has apparently not implemented those agreements, ignoring strike threats issued with increasing urgency by the workers only to ultimately face renewed strike action..
“We are simply calling off our strike action and pleading with our members to begin the process of normalising operations, restoring services,” Moss Ndiema, the head of the workers’ union, told a press conference on Tuesday.
