Air Seychelles yesterday took delivery of an Airbus A320 aircraft, leased from partner Etihad. The aircraft is configured in a two class layout offering 16 seats in Business Class and 120 in Economy Class and is painted in Air Seychelles’ livery.

The aircraft, named ‘Amirantes’ after a group of distant islands which belong to the archipelago, will operate the maiden flight from Mahe to Dar es Salaam on the 02nd December and will then also fly to Antananarivo / Madagascar and later on to Mumbai / India while continuing the flights between the Seychelles and Mauritius.

The airline also operates two Airbus A330-200 (18 C / 236 Y) which are presently deployed on the routes to Johannesburg, to Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Paris.

Domestically does Air Seychelles operate a fleet of DHC Twin Otters of both -300 and -400 makes which fly scheduled services to Praslin and charters to a number of other islands to offer swift transfers for tourists. Additionally does Air Seychelles use a converted Short 360 which now uplifts cargo to the Praslin aerodrome and other airfields of outlying islands when they need urgent deliveries which can only be made by air.

The aircraft was received at the international airport by none other than President James Alix Michel, his Vice President Danny Foure, members of the Air Seychelles board of directors, management, staff and invited guests.

Happy landings to crews and passengers of the new bird.
