Travel Updates – Tanzania and Uganda COVID-19 Requirements

Air Kenya would like to inform travelers that the Tanzania and Uganda governments have updated their travel requirements in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Henceforth, all our passengers will be subjected to the below requirements:

Travelling to Tanzania

All travellers into Tanzania are required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate taken no more than 72 hours before arrival into Tanzania.
All travellers into Tanzania are required to truthfully fill in an online Traveler’s Surveillance Form available at https://afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz within 24 hours before arrival to Tanzania.
All travellers will be subjected to enhanced screening for COVID-19 infection including rapid test. The cost for a rapid test is US$25 per traveller.
Travellers on transit in other countries more than 72 hours will be required to be re-tested by rapid test upon arrival in Tanzania.
All travellers arriving from India or those who have travelled through India in the last 14 days regardless of the route taken shall be subjected to rapid test upon arrival in Tanzania followed by stringent contact tracing and 14 days mandatory quarantine at their own cost at one of these government-designated places. Returning residents arriving from India will be allowed to isolate themselves in their homes under a strict surveillance system.
Arrivals from countries with new COVID-19 variants will also be subject to mandatory quarantine at their own expense for 14 days.
Upon arrival at all points of entry, all travellers including returning residents will be provided with health information cards with toll-free number and advised to self-monitor for symptoms and signs. In case they develop any symptoms and signs, they will be tested and treated at designated health facilities by the Government at their own cost.

Travelling to Uganda

All travellers, including children, from India, the USA, UK, UAE, Turkey, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Tanzania will be subjected to a PCR COVID-19 test upon arrival in Uganda at US$65 per person. Those who test positive will be isolated in a government-designated facility.
Travellers, except those from India, who have received the full COVID-19 vaccination and are asymptomatic will be allowed into the country without the need for testing upon arrival.
Kindly adhere to these directives to avoid inconvenience upon arrival at the respective countries.
