| Building an elephant-proof fence is no easy task, but those farming in the Kilombero Valley in Tanzania needed one to protect their crops. Since their land is located on a popular route for savanna elephants migrating between mountainous terrain and a lowland forest habitat, a solution was needed to avoid conflict between the elephants, growers and villagers. Plans were laid for a 14km-long wildlife corridor that will give the elephants safe passage along a specially enclosed area. |
