Alain St. Ange gets added support from India in his quest to capture the UNWTO top job

ALAIN ST. ANGE TAKES THE MORAL HIGH GROUND IN HIS CAMPAIGN FOR UNWTO’S TOP JOB

(Posted 26th January 2017)

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles immediate former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine is on a working visit to Delhi / India. He was invited to address the 36the Congress of the hugely influential NRI of India.
Mr. St.Ange started off his address by speaking about the friendly ties between Seychelles and India before embarking on his bid to become the next Secretary General of the UNWTO, short for the United Nations World Tourism Organization. ‘I come from the world of tourism and with me you will have not just a leader in this high office, but you will also have a friend‘ he said before promising that under his leadership a UNWTO office in India would be opened along side a number of new offices he was planning. ‘This is to ensure the UN Agency is as close to its Member States as possible. This concept is stated firmly in my Statement of Intent lodged now in Madrid‘ said Mr St.Ange to prolonged applause for the audience.
Mr. Alain St.Ange also brought out some of the other points appearing on his priority list of matters receiving his immediate attention should he be elected.

Alain St.Ange appealed to the packed conference room to work with him to get Governments from the four corners of the world to support his bid to become the next Secretary General of the UNWTO at the May elections in Madrid.

Notably did Alain St. Ange not take the bait thrown at him by a Zimbabwean newspaper article published earlier today in which racism allegations were made, distinctly souring the hitherto fair campaign mood among the leading candidates.

Without commenting directly on the article is it however regrettable that the tone of the campaign is now under threat to turn into a mud throwing contest and it is hoped that all other candidates observe common decency and respect for each other while advancing their campaign. This includes the latest entrant into the race to succeed Dr. Taleb Rifai, South Korea’s Mrs. Dho Young-Sim – who appears to have formed a partnership with Mr. Carlos Vogeler, currently Executive Director for Member Relations at the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as her proposed second in command should she be elected.
