SOUTH SUDAN CIVIL AVIATION UNDER SPOTLIGHT AGAIN AFTER YET ANOTHER DEADLY CRASH

An Antonov 26 cargo aircraft crashed shortly after take off – around 1 pm local time – from Juba International Airport, after issuing a Mayday call.
The plane was enroute to Maban with a crew of five on board, none of whom survived the fiery crash. The aircraft caught fire on impact and burned out.
Registered as TR-NGT, a Gabonese registration, was the aircraft operated by Optimum Aviation of South Sudan.
The weather was said to be fair at the time of the crash, leaving the aircraft accident investigators to look at such potential causes like crew training, maintenance of the aircraft and load shifting, among others.
The age of the aircraft could not be established at the time of going to press.
