Another Protea Hotel nearing completion in Kampala

MARRIOTT’S PROTEA BRAND SEEKS TO WIDEN PRESENCE IN UGANDA

(Posted 27th March 2016)

Regardless of the timeframe of the merger talks between Marriott and Starwood, which when completed would give Marriott added market presence in Uganda through the Kampala Sheraton Hotel, a brand of Starwood, has the global hotel giant’s Protea brand made headway to widen their own footprint in Uganda.
Already operating two hotels, one just outside the airport perimeter in Entebbe directly at a beach of Lake Victoria and one in the fashionable Kololo suburb of the capital Kampala, will reportedly another Protea join the hotel scene by mid year.
Located at the Naguru suburb of the city will the Protea Hotel Naguru Skyz offer guests 141 rooms, a fully fledged Spa and Gym and reportedly a rooftop terrace bar which will give patrons sweeping views across Kampala.
This new hotel is due to open by July this year while a second Naguru based property has broken ground and is due to open in early 2018 as the Protea Hotel Naguru Pinnacle.
Principal owner of Protea Hotels Uganda is entrepreneur Patrick Bitature while the company is managed by Stuart Cook, who has been Managing Director of Protea Hotels Uganda since the 2007 opening of the company’s first property.
