Arriving at Wilson Airport – be prepared for a full baggage and person check before leaving the arrival building

LODWAR ATTRACTS ANOTHER AIRLINE

(Posted 07th July 2015)

According to information received from Wilson airport based aviation sources has another entrant announced flights from Nairobi to the northern Kenyan town of Lodwar after being licensed for the route by the Kenya Civil Aviation.

Skyward Express joins such reputable companies like Safarilink which has been on the route for some time alongside several other local airlines.

The newcomer however will not fly daily but only serve the route, reportedly via Eldoret, four times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Details on fares and aircraft type used were not immediately available however though it is expected that in order to capture market share fares charged by established operators will be undercut by some margin.

In a related development it was also confirmed that passengers arriving at Wilson airport from upcountry locations now must have their baggage scanned and are compelled to undergo body scans before being allowed to leave the airport’s arrival building. KAA staff manning the checkpoint were either unable or unwilling to explain the reasons for an arrival check and local airline sources preferred not to speculate over this latest measure hitting passengers and impacting on the ease of air travel.
