From Seville 2016 to Nairobi 2017, that is the road ASTA, the American Association of Travel Agents will take in the immediate future for their annual Destination Expo.
It was learned earlier today that Kenya’s bid to host this high profile event was successful and that hundreds of American travel agents will be flying into Nairobi next February for their annual off shore convention.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala made the announcement in Nairobi together with representatives of ASTA who had traveled to Kenya for this purpose and to get the preparations underway.

The United States are a major market for safaris in Kenya – and in East Africa for that matter – and past experience shows that sales into the destination where this expo has taken place, have benefitted greatly with often deep double digits increases in visitors from the US.

It is expected that Kenya Airways will come on board as official carrier for the event and hopes are high in Kenya that between now and the Expo taking place in February next year will the FAA have granted Jomo Kenyatta International Airport the coveted CAT 1 status to have nonstop or direct flights launched between the two countries. If in place by then would this give a double shot in the arm to Kenya’s tourism industry and in particular the safari sector.

Registration for the Destination Expo is now open and until the 01st of October this year will an early bird rebated fee be applicable.
