At its recent Focus Africa forum in Addis Ababa, IATA called on African governments to treat aviation not as a luxury — but as a socio-economic engine capable of driving jobs, trade, tourism, and sustainable development across the continent.

And the numbers back it up:

– African aviation capacity hit 23.4 million seats in June 2026 — up 3.2% from last year
– Nigeria’s domestic market surged by 21.3%
– Lagos is the fastest-growing major airport on the continent with +16.7% capacity growth
– Ethiopian Airlines — Africa’s largest carrier — grew by 10% with 2 million seats this month alone

Africa is not just growing. Africa is accelerating.

But growth without visibility is a missed opportunity.

At NEWSAERO, the leading bilingual media platform dedicated to African aviation we exist to make sure Africa’s aviation story is told, heard, and amplified to the world.

Through NAWA Comms, we help aviation businesses across the continent build the communication, marketing, and prospecting strategies they need to grow with the market, not behind it.
